Solar Eclipse Viewing & Events in Rhode Island!

Posted March 29, Updated 4/6/24

By Joyce Campbell, Macaroni KID East Bay-Newport RI Publisher April 6, 2024

On Monday, April 8, 2024, total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. Weather permitting, the first location in continental North America that will experience the eclipse is Mexico’s Pacific coast at around 11:07 a.m. PDT.  The path of the eclipse will head through Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine.1
Rhode Island will see about 90% of the eclipse, making it a partial Solar Eclipse.  The viewing times should range between 2:00 and 3:45.

Here is a link to the Rhode Island Department of Health which has some suggestions on how to maintain your family's safety during the eclipse.
